In an earlier post (Israeli Drone Strike ...) I mentioned that the result of the coup in Egypt was that Egypt has reverted to its usual position as a US puppet whose main purpose is to maintain the security of Israel. This is in stark contrast to the traditional position of Egypt in the Nasser era of leader of the Arab world.
Recent news confirms that trend. The Egyptian military government is reinstating the blockade on Gaza, punishing the several million inhabitants in accordance with Israeli policy. This includes bulldozing homes built along the border, a policy strikingly similar to that used by the Israel military occupation in the West Bank. It also involves a very hostile media campaign against Hamas (and Palestinians in general) by the Egyptian military. This is part of the ongoing campaign in Sinai against "terrorists" with the inevitable civilian 'collateral' damage.
